UPCOMING EVENTS

Join us on Friday, March 13th at 5:30pm in the hayloft.

We are very excited to host Mark Lilly, the Head Beekeeper/Educator for the Appalachian Beekeeping Collective (ABC) to learn about the history of the bee, pollination, Lilly’s focus on natural beekeeping practices, honey production, and his promotion of native Appalachian “tree honey” from black locust and tulip poplar as a world-class product. The talk will include a glass of Troddenvale Special No. 9, a 2021 vintage plum cyser with milk weed honey. The talk will be followed by a tasting of various ABC honey.

Wine Tasting in the Hayloft on Friday, March 20th at 5:30 p.m.

Troddenvale's cider & winemaker Will Hodges will be leading an immersive wine tasting focused on the volcanic islands of the Mediterranean and Atlantic. Although many island wines remain under the radar, wines from the Canary Islands, Sicily, Sardinia, and beyond offer a remarkable diversity of indigenous grapes, mineral-driven character, and ancient winemaking traditions that far surpass many people's expectations. We will taste through expressions from several island appellations that share this distinctive terroir.

A Deep Winter’s Watercolor Workshop in the Hayloft (Rescheduled: Saturday, March 21st, 1pm - 3pm)

A 2 hour watercolor workshop teaching you the basics of watercolor painting, with a wet on dry technique (think more detailed watercolor painting, less abstract), and a focus on relaxation and rest within the creative making process.

All painting materials will be provided, including dried flowers, branches, and winter foliage to use as your muse/subject matter.

Join us on Saturday, March 28th, 9am - 4pm for a Market Basket Weaving Workshop with Karen Milnes of Cabin Critter.

Spend the day at Oakley Farm learning to basket weave with Karen Milnes of Cabin Critter! Karen is a mother, forager, gardener, and artist living in Monterey, Virginia. She studied Biology & Printmaking at the University of Virginia. Biological subjects often - if not always - show up in her work. She is also an avid watercolorist & painter, forages mushrooms, edibles, and art supplies for basketry & papermaking, and grows as much as she can. Karen owns and operates Cabin Critter Designs and loves to create custom pieces.
