Vinification
In 2024 & 2025, fruit was harvest in late August, foot tread, and macerated whole cluster for two week. Upon fermenting dry, the wine was pressed directly to barrel, blending with reserve wine from 21/22 vintages. The combination sat undisturbed, un-topped for 12 months. Previous vintages saw similar macerations and sporadic topping over the years aging. This year’s release is comprised of 50% ’24, 25% ’25, 15% ’22, and 10% ’21 vintages. Components of this wine were aged in barrel from 1 to five years. No additions of SO2 were made at any stage of this wine.
Notes
This year’s A Little Man Sings is built on a high percentage of 2024, which softened some with an additional year in barrel but still presents a forward sense of tannin and spice. “Fresh” 2025 wine provides a little more clarity to the aromatics and elevates the otherwise heavy oxidative notes with something more crystalline. Don’t be mistaken, this wine still carries the structure of a rustic red wine so give it plenty of air and don’t be shy to enjoy it after it has been open for several days. Early in its life this wine will desire a friend in food but also will soften with years in bottle. Drink slightly chilled and let it breathe.
